Henry Ford's The International Jew, Volume I: The World's Foremost Problem is a compilation of articles originally published in Ford's newspaper, the Dearborn Independent, beginning in May 1920. The articles were serialized over ninety-one issues and later collected into four volumes. This first volume addresses what Ford and his editorial staff framed as the influence of Jewish individuals and organizations in American public life, finance, and culture during the early twentieth century.

Historical Context

The publication is one of the most notorious documents of American antisemitism. Ford, at the time the most famous industrialist in the world, lent his name and his newspaper's circulation to claims that drew on existing conspiracy theories and older European antisemitic literature, including the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. Ford eventually issued a public apology in 1927 and ordered the books recalled, though copies continued to circulate widely.
